WE GOT HIM!
We are so tired, so we will keep this post brief but wanted to take a moment to share the good news.
Well, let’s start from the beginning! We had a rough start, to say the least. He screamed, cried, kicked, and flailed when we first got him. It was kind of terrible for about an hour. Poor kid had been through a lot in the past week as we found out that he left his foster family just last week to live in the orphanage.
We tried everything to calm him: snacks, toys, candy, walking, sitting… you name it- we tried it! He finally calmed down after an hour and has miraculously been doing great ever since.
We took him out to eat at a fancy restaurant with some others right after we got back to the hotel. We were nervous about this, but felt like we needed to do what our guide suggested and it actually went really well. He was smiling and laughing and even feeding us at the restaurant. Things continued to get better when we got back to the hotel. We played with toys, gave him a bath, SKYPE’d with the kids, gave cuddles and tickles, and he seemed to love every minute of it. We’ve gotten to hear his deep belly laugh and we have found that his favorite thing to do so pour water over his head in the bathtub 🙂 He has been sitting on our laps, holding our hands, and even fell asleep on Mary at the end of the night. Praise God!
It feels a bit surreal. We can hardly believe it. He is absolutely adorable and we are so blessed to be his parents.
Keep praying! We love you guys!!
Sing to him; yes, sing his praises.
Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Exalt in his holy name;
rejoice, you who worship the Lord.- 1 Chron 16:9-10
Our rough start! He is crying on the outside, and we are clearly freaking out a bit, but smiling for the photo, haha
At restaurant- Laughing at daddy’s sillyness
